Educational programs
NPhE conducts scientific research, the spectrum of which extends from the fundamental problems of the structure of matter and the development of new materials to the creation of a new nuclear power platform, and prepares specialists capable of solving the global problems of modern nuclear physics and the nuclear industry.
OPPORTUNITIES
Students are offered original educational programs reflecting the current state and trends in the development of science and technology, as well as the opportunity to participate in research in the fields of nuclear physics, elementary particles, developments of nuclear technologies and nuclear power plants. NPhE actively cooperates with leading foreign universities and international nuclear educational networks.

Strategic goal of LaPlas Institute to become the leading scientific school and the core of innovative development in laser, plasma and radiation technologies, with unique educational programs, essential both for the Russian and world markets of educational services.
Research and analytical work provides for development, research, modification and use (processing, operation and disposal) of materials of inorganic and organic nature for various purposes; processes of manufacturing materials, blanks, semi-finished products, parts and products, as well as managing their quality for various fields of engineering and technology.
Аnalysis of data on existing types and grades of materials, their structure and properties, methods of developing new materials with specified technological and functional properties; participation in the organization and implementation of projects, research and development of new materials and composites; development of programs, work plans and methods, organization and implementation of experiments, research and testing of materials; modeling of materials and processes, research and experimental verification of theoretical data in the development of new technological processes for the production and processing of materials; preparation of publications on research subjects and introduction of results of scientific and technical research into the real sector of the economy and commercialization of developments.

The department is a major university structure in the system of preparatory education. The main aim of the department is to prepare foreign students who don’t speak Russian for further studies on the Universities' degree programs of all levels. During the preparatory course the students also have an opportunity to get acquainted with Russian educational system and adapt to the living conditions.

After completing the preparatory course in OINPE MEPHI foreign citizens are able to continue studying in a Russian higher-education institutions, namely they:
  • have Russian language skills for studying and communicating in educational, professional, social and cultural areas;
  • master the system of discipline knowledge essential to continue studying in a Russian high-education institution;
  • are psychologically prepared to study in a new social and cultural environment.
Our teachers are certified by the International Education Center at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov; they have a long-term experience of working with foreign students (including work in foreign countries : Myanmar, China, Finland, Israel).

The department's teachers and staff can speak foreign languages, that allows them to communicate with the students from their first days in Russia. We apply the advanced teaching methods using the newest lexical and grammar training materials.

The accumulated pedagogical experience, scientific and methodical potential of the department's staff contributes to improvement of the system of teaching Russian as a foreign language and a number of other scientific disciplines in Russian. More information...
Admission terms and conditions
Minimal application package:
  • Application form (will be available during application period);
  • Educational credential (High School Certificate or equivalent) + notarized translation into Russian;
  • Passport (valid at least 18 months after enrollment in MEPhI);
  • Medical Certificate( with HIV and tuberculosis results);
  • TORFL Certificate level B2 (or above) or Preparatory department leaving certificate (only for Russian-taught programs).

Age of the applicants: 18 – 60 years old.
Three entrance exams: two subjects according to the chosen specialty and Russian language.
Tuition fee payment options: self-financed, Governmental scholarship (visit RUSSIA.STUDY and follow the instructions).
